Her life's work depended was wrapped up in that box, and to lose it would be a disaster she wasn't willing to contemplate. As she moved through the door, she couldn't help but think how her device would change the world. She had gone through hell and done terrible deeds to obtain the contents of that box, and victory would finally be hers. Victory over life, over death, over anything that she so desired.
